SUMMARY: Jamie Rose Bolin’s family spoke after her killer, Kevin Underwood, was executed. Her sister expressed that while the execution wouldn’t bring Jamie back, it allows the healing process to begin. Underwood’s execution was swift, and District Attorney Greg Mashburn said justice was served, giving the family peace to focus on remembering Jamie’s joy. After nearly 20 years of appeals, prosecutors recounted Underwood’s brutal crime of hitting Bolin with a cutting board and strangling her. Despite opposition from anti-death penalty groups, Mashburn and the jury maintained that Underwood’s actions warranted the death penalty.
