How Isaac Smith became MSU’s top defender
SUMMARY: Isaac Smith, a safety for Mississippi State, emerged as a football standout at Itawamba Agricultural High School, attracting Division I offers. Coming from an athletic family, with his father playing at Ole Miss, Isaac’s first offer also came from there. However, he felt a strong connection with Mississippi State and its late coach Mike Leach, who he admired for his kindness, including attending a game when Isaac wasn’t playing. Following Leach’s unexpected passing, Isaac sought guidance through prayer and ultimately chose Mississippi State, feeling called to be there.
