Mary Alex Thigpen, Greater Belhaven Neighborhood Foundation’s Executive Director since November, led efforts to address the vehicles, which were eyesores and community health hazards. Utilizing a tracker and coordinating with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), they managed to tag and tow 20 cars over six months. Assistant Police Chief Wendell Watts mentioned that officers also helped move cars to driveways to improve safety.
