Beautiful fall weather continues, tracking another fall front, and still watching the tropics

SUMMARY: WDSU forecasts pleasant weather ahead, with current conditions featuring warm temperatures and lower humidity across the region. Tropical Storm Leslie and former Tropical Storm Milton are not expected to impact land, and there’s a low chance of development for another system near the Cabo Verde Islands. Over the next week, no significant storms are anticipated in the Caribbean or Gulf. The weekend will begin with cool temperatures, dropping into the 50s, and afternoon highs in the mid-80s. A frontal system is expected to bring cooler mornings next week, with temperatures possibly flirting with the 40s by Wednesday and Thursday.

SUMMARY: A cold front has brought cooler temperatures, with highs in the 50s on the North Shore and 60s on the South Shore, while also suppressing tropical development in the Gulf of Mexico for the next 6 to 10 days. Post-tropical storm Milton, with winds at 70 mph, is no longer classified as a hurricane or tropical storm and is moving harmlessly into the Atlantic. Since 2017, the Gulf Coast has experienced 10 major hurricane landfalls, contrasting with no major events since 2005 prior.
