SUMMARY: Bear sightings have increased in Mississippi in recent months, and a wildlife expert explains the reasons behind this. Young male bears are leaving their families to find a new home, while older adult males are searching for females during mating season. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) has been tracking some bears using collars with radio transmitters. One particular young male bear has traveled several miles from its original location. MDWFP is also using hair snares to collect bear fur for DNA testing. Most of Mississippi’s bear population is found along the Mississippi River and on the Gulf Coast.

Long Beach amends lease to begin process for developing casino

Mississippi College, Delta State players earn postseason football honors
