SUMMARY: Consumer reporter John Mice warns about the risks of buying counterfeit bourbon during the holiday season, potentially wasting money and breaking the law. Brad Bonds, owner of Revival Vintage Bottle Shop, highlights the prevalence of scams, particularly involving sought-after brands like Pappy Van Winkle and Old Fitzgerald, which are often refilled with cheap liquor. Attorney Shannon Smith adds that individuals claiming to legally ship alcohol across state lines are misinformed, as many states restrict such shipments. Mice advises consumers to sample whiskey in person and to purchase from local, authorized liquor stores to avoid counterfeit products.
