Bay St. Louis man sentenced to nearly 5 years for role in fentanyl trafficking conspiracy
SUMMARY: A St. Louis man, Colby Sims, has been sentenced to nearly five years in jail for drug trafficking. According to the Hancock Sheriff's Office, Sims was involved in selling fentanyl-laced pills. The investigation revealed that a car would leave a hotel in Bay St. Louis, drive into Louisiana, and return to the hotel to sell the drugs. Sims has been officially charged with drug trafficking.
According to officials, Sims contributed funds to buy 1000 fentanyl-laced pills to bring back from Louisiana for sale in Mississippi.

St. Martin East Elementary teacher receives classroom makeover after winning contest

Work on Beachview Bridge paused to move water, sewer lines
SUMMARY: Much-needed repairs to the Beach View Drive bridge in Gulf Park Estates are delayed until water and sewer lines are moved. The bridge is currently suitable for cars and SUVs but not for large school buses and trucks. County road crews are ready to reinforce the bridge, but a private utility company must first relocate the attached water and sewer mains. Jackson County Supervisor Randy Bosar noted challenges due to the utility's recent change in ownership. The bridge will eventually be rebuilt as part of a widening plan for Gulf View Drive, with the first phase beginning soon. The construction contract may be awarded at Monday's board meeting.
Much-needed repairs to the bridge on Beachview Drive in Gulf Park Estates are on hold until water and sewer lines are moved.
