Backpack Buddies collects over 1,000 donations with help of social media creator
SUMMARY: A dedicated group of women in the Mississippi Gulf Coast, under the name Women of Faith, created the Backpack Buddies initiative to provide food for children facing food insecurities beyond the school year. Spearheaded by Amy Roberts, the faith-based organization supplies essential food items to Pineville Elementary School students, 94% of whom qualify for free or reduced lunch. Initially limited to the school year, the program expanded to summer months after recognizing continued need. Boosted by Gulf Coast social media creator Matthew Bounds, the program saw overwhelming support and donations from his 3 million followers, ensuring no child goes hungry.
Faith-based organization Women of Faith decided to fulfill the needs of the community by assisting Pineville Elementary School with their feeding program.

Student Athlete of the Week: Bay high school's Aiden Boudro
SUMMARY: Aiden Buro, a senior forward at Bay High School, is this week’s WXXV Student Athlete of the Week, recognized as the Gatorade Player of the Year and a back-to-back title holder. With an impressive record of 17 goals this season and 72 career goals, he credits his success to his father’s support. Buro’s true passion is helping his team win, with accolades being secondary. His team recently achieved back-to-back state championships, and they aim for a third title. Next fall, Aiden will continue his soccer journey at Davidson College, carrying on his father’s legacy.

Old Margaritaville turned Hammered Harry’s on track to be a ‘destination spot’ this summer
SUMMARY: As winter weather persists, families are eagerly anticipating the opening of Hammered Harry’s, set to debut in July after transforming the former Margaritaville. Located near Buy Bay Bridge, this new entertainment venue will feature a children’s area, dining options, and various attractions, such as a karaoke bar, axe throwing, an MMA event center, concerts, and a speakeasy. Construction began in February and is progressing smoothly, with the aim of making it a vibrant destination for families and visitors. Sean Parker of Shan Parker Construction believes this project is essential for the growing downtown area of Buy.
