SUMMARY: Moving to a new place is challenging, especially for the homeless, who face added difficulties due to unfamiliarity. Chobby Rivers visited Back Bay Mission and spoke with Executive Director James Pennington about easing this process. Pennington emphasized the importance of community and understanding in supporting unsheltered individuals, who may struggle when relocated due to mental health and safety concerns. Familiarity with certain areas provides comfort, making transitions harder. Economic factors also complicate housing stability. Pennington advocates for affordable housing and comprehensive healthcare, including mental health services, to help the homeless not just survive but thrive.

Community and understanding are just some of the beliefs that Back Bay Mission uses to help serve those unsheltered in Biloxi.
