Auditor: $590M in unemployment compensation misspent during pandemic

The auditor’s office has partnered with an advanced data analytics firm to identify improperly paid claims and recover stolen funds. They have also partnered with federal agencies to investigate COVID-19 unemployment fraud, leading to the arrests of individuals involved in fraud.
