Audio released related to incident that sparked RCSO lawsuit
SUMMARY: The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a man’s claims in a federal lawsuit that deputies used a K-9 to attack him, leaving bite marks on his leg, feet, and thigh. Former investigator Christian Dedmon, also involved in the incident, denies the accusations. K9 supervisor Chris Picou stated there was not enough time for the K-9 named Voodoo to commit the alleged attack. The incident occurred after a drug sale on May 1st, where the K-9 bit Dedmon on the arm. Picou disputes that Voodoo attacked the man while he was handcuffed and emphasizes that his unit did not carry out the accusations made in the lawsuit.
