Attala County, Kosciusko firefighters respond to multiple fires within hours

SUMMARY: Dry drought conditions have led to dangerous situations for fire departments in Itala County. Over 100 acres have been burned this week, prompting the expiration of the burn ban in the area. However, the Itala County Emergency Management director warns that this does not mean it is safe to burn, and the burn ban will be back in effect on Monday with a definite expiration date. Itala County firefighters and cesco firefighters responded to numerous woodgrass and grass fire calls within a three-hour period on Thursday. The Mississippi forestry commission has been called in to assist with the fires.

Firefighters in Kosciusko and across Attala County responded to multiple wood/grass fires within hours of each other on Thursday.
