SUMMARY: Valerie Anderson is distraught after her son Devon was shot three times, allegedly by off-duty Atlanta police officer Melvin Potter, outside Nikki’s bar. Surveillance footage shows Potter leaving the bar with fellow officers during a birthday celebration when a fight erupted. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reports Potter shot and killed Anderson but was arrested only for refusing a blood draw related to the incident. This follows a previous DUI arrest in 2021. Anderson questions Potter’s accountability, highlighting his lack of charges in the homicide and his dismissive attitude towards law enforcement during his arrest.

Atlanta Police Officer Melvin Potter was convicted of DUI in 2022 in Coweta County. He’s now accused of killing a man outside a bar in South Fulton.

The report argues for policy changes, including charging data centers more for energy and halting subsidies for their construction to alleviate the burden on consumers. Recommendations also include implementing minimum take clauses for utility contracts.
