Athletes ready for US Junior Olympics event in their hometown
SUMMARY: The USA Track and Field Junior Olympics begins tomorrow in Jackson, with over 1,500 athletes from four southern states participating. Bradley Davis reported from Hughes Field, where local athletes from the Mississippi Track Stars are preparing despite the stifling heat. Coach Alan Senegal emphasized the importance of programs like Mississippi Track Stars, given that local schools often lack summer track programs. Competing in their hometown offers young athletes the chance to qualify for nationals. The four-day event will also include field events at Millsaps College. The top five in each event will advance to nationals later this month.
The Metro area will be well represented this week during the Region 6 USA Track and Field Junior Olympics. Events will be held at Hughes Field and Millsaps College and local athletes are excited to compete in their hometown amongst the best in the Southeast.

Nick's Friday PM Forecast 11/1
SUMMARY: Happy Friday, Pine Belt! November is here, and I hope you enjoyed HalloweenโI certainly did with some candy. Recently, we received half an inch of rain after a three-week dry spell, with lingering showers in areas like Pike County. However, expect mostly cloudy skies with just a few sprinkles, so enjoy Friday Night Lights without worry. The tropics are also changing as hurricane season wraps up, with low pressure expected but unlikely to impact South Mississippi. Remember to prepare for earlier sunsets at 5 PM, but we should stay warm despite the shorter days. Enjoy your weekend!
