Atatiana Jefferson honored by Fort Worth community 5 years after shooting
SUMMARY: On the fifth anniversary of Tatiana Jefferson’s death, the Fort Worth community held the annual “Tay Day Parade” to honor her life. Jefferson was shot and killed by then-officer Aaron Dean in 2019 while she was babysitting her nephew, Zion Carr, who reunited with the officer who rescued him that night during the event. Dean is serving a 12-year manslaughter sentence, following a conviction, and his appeal to the Supreme Court was recently denied. The parade culminated at the Tatiana Carr Jefferson Community Center, celebrating unity and remembrance with community activities throughout the weekend.
