At least 200 TX teachers were falsely certified: Teacher cheating scandal ring
SUMMARY: The Texas Education Agency is investigating a scandal involving teachers with unearned certifications, primarily centered around Houston ISD. Vincent Grayson, a head boys basketball coach, is identified as the operation’s ringleader, recruiting teachers to have their certification tests taken by others, including an assistant principal who allegedly took over 430 exams. Test proctors are also accused of accepting bribes to enable the cheating. Irregularities were noticed in 2023, with teachers who previously failed suddenly passing after traveling to Houston. The fraud extends statewide, involving at least two sexual predators accessing minors, with Grayson allegedly profiting over a million dollars. All five suspects face serious charges.
An exposed elaborate cheating ring led to five educators in the Houston ISD area with charges. Investigators are trying to find out if any North Texas teachers are linked to the scandal.
