State calls final witnesses in Carly Gregg trial
SUMMARY: In the trial of Carly Gregg, a Rankin County teenager accused of killing her mother and injuring her stepfather, the state presented its final witnesses. Expert testimonies highlighted contradictions in Gregg’s statements post-arrest, notably her failure to mention hallucinations to medical professionals. Contrarily, a counselor found no signs of mental distress in her behavior. The state argued against Gregg’s potential insanity plea due to admitted marijuana use before the incident. After rejecting a plea deal, Gregg faces life in prison if convicted of murder and other charges. The shooting occurred in March 2024, with Gregg later apprehended nearby.
