Arrest made in suspicious death of woman in Monroe County

SUMMARY: Investigators have arrested Gregory Hester, the boyfriend of Sherry Pope, following her suspicious death in Monroe County. Hester, a 56-year-old Alabama man, is charged with felony tampering with evidence. Sheriff Kevin Crook stated that Hester was the last person seen with Pope before she was found dead outside a vacant home on Hatley Detroit Road on July 7th. Preliminary autopsy results show no injuries, but the final autopsy is pending. Hester was on probation in Alabama and had an active warrant at the time of his arrest.
