Arrest made in Monroe County death investigation

SUMMARY: Charges have been filed in a investigation in Monroe County, Mississippi. Gregory James Hester, 56, has been and charged with tampering with evidence the discovery of 45-year-old Sherry Pope’s body on her ‘s Hatley Detroit Road property on July 7. Sheriff Kevin Crook deemed the death suspicious, with Hester being the last person to see Pope alive. The final autopsy is pending, as preliminary findings showed no injuries. Hester, on probation in Alabama and with an existing warrant, had his bond set at $50,000. Information on Pope’s death can be reported to Golden Triangle Crimestoppers.
