APD officer killed during Douglas County burglary | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: An off-duty Atlanta police investigator, Aubrey Horton, was shot and killed by a neighbor during an attempted burglary in the St Andrews Country Club neighborhood early Friday morning. Horton, who also lived in the area, was attempting to break into a residence when the homeowner, acting in self-defense, shot him. Douglas County deputies reported that Horton appeared to be experiencing a mental health episode or under the influence of narcotics at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing, with many questions remaining about his actions that led to the deadly confrontation.
Deputies say an off-duty Atlanta police investigator was shot and killed outside a Douglas County home while trying to break in. Atlanta police confirm that investigator was Aubree Horton. He had been with the department since November 2015. The deadly shooting happened on Orkney way in the st. Andrews Country Club neighborhood early Friday morning.

Election 2024: Georgia to vote on three statewide referendums | Georgia
SUMMARY: Georgia voters will decide on three statewide ballot measures in the upcoming general election, all proposed by the Legislature. These include an amendment to create a Georgia Tax Court, which would transition the existing Tax Tribunal to the judicial branch, allowing judges appointed by the governor. BioLab chemical plume still looms | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: Plumes of smoke continue to rise from the biolab plant in Conor, which caught fire on Sunday. Rockdale County Commission Chair Oz Nesbit spoke with FOX regarding community concerns and cleanup efforts, noting that there’s no clear timeline for when the smoke will dissipate. Biolab is bringing in a response team to assist with cleanup and has set up an office for community concerns, including reports of debris falling into yards. A shelter-in-place order is in effect from 7 PM to 7 AM due to shifting winds. The future of the facility remains uncertain as crews work diligently to ensure safety.
For a sixth day, plumes of smoke are rising from the BioLab plant in Conyers. A fire burned the plant on Sunday.
