Activists to 'resist' Trump through know-your-rights campaign
SUMMARY: Recent calls to the Border Network for Human Rights (BNHR) in El Paso reveal rising panic among the immigrant community amid President Trump’s immigration orders. Concerns include a pregnant woman fearing detention at a hospital and parents reconsidering their children’s education in public schools. BNHR’s Executive Director, Fernando Garcia, emphasizes that despite the administration’s stance, immigrants still possess rights, including the right to refuse entry to immigration officers without a warrant. BNHR is initiating a legal rights campaign and community forums to empower immigrants. Religious leaders in El Paso have also expressed continued support for immigrants amidst heightened fears.
