Apalachee 911 calls released | FOX 5 News

SUMMARY: More than a after a tragic shooting at Appalache High School involving 14-year-old Colt Gray, 911 calls from the incident have been released. These calls reveal the panic and fear experienced by and during the chaos. Parents, a father whose daughter attends the neighboring elementary school and a mother struggling with a language barrier, desperately sought information about their children’s safety. School employees also used newly installed panic buttons to alert authorities. As the community mourns the loss of an assistant coach, the local football coach is working to his team.

While it’s been more than a week since that horrific morning when investigators say 14-year-old Colt Gray started shooting, we are just now hearing some of the 911 calls placed that day a shooting at Apalachee High School.

SUMMARY: Tonight offers a rare celestial featuring a partial lunar eclipse coinciding with the full Harvest Moon, which is also a super moon, making it appear larger and brighter than usual. Around 10:44 PM, Earth’s shadow will cast a reddish hue on the moon. The Harvest Moon is named for its brightness, which historically farmers to work late during harvest season. This extraordinary event won’t be repeated until 2025, prompting experts to encourage sky gazers to head outside after dark for the best view of the super moon and eclipse, especially after midnight. Cloudy skies may hinder visibility.

Atlanta, we’re in for a rare treat. Not only will there be a supermoon, when the moon appears larger and bright than usual, but there will also be a partial lunar eclipse. Here’s when you should go outside for the best view.

GA woman released from prison 20+ years after killing alleged abuser

She met her alleged abuser at 13 and became a mother of three by 17, enduring a relationship marked by her husband’s controlling and abusive behavior. An attempt to escape in her late twenties led to a near-fatal situation, resulting in a sentence in prison in 2001. Latoya emphasizes that her story is more complex than what has been shared, and she is now committed to helping others find their own paths to freedom and healing.

A 2022 letter to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Parole said Latoya was just 13 years old when she met her future husband, who was 17 at the time.

“Their entire relationship was plagued by her husband’s controlling behavior through physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, throughout her three pregnancies,” advocates wrote. “The night of the fatal incident, Latoya was at the point of considering suicide after being exhausted by years of abuse.”

In January 1999, Latoya made the to her husband, but he wouldn’t let her. The two fought over a knife; he died several days later from his wounds.

In 2001, a judge Latoya to life in prison for felony murder.
