Former interim Hinds County Sheriff Marshand Crisler convicted in bribery case

SUMMARY: Former interim Hinds County Sheriff Marshand Crisler was found guilty on federal charges of soliciting bribes and providing ammunition to a convicted felon. A jury convicted him on these charges, which were filed in April 2023. Man wanted on multiple charges in other states arrested in Mississippi

SUMMARY: Byram police arrested James Beasley after a chase on Interstate 55 North on November 7. Beasley was wanted in multiple states for robbery, carjacking, and grand larceny. Officers initiated the pursuit when they learned he was driving a stolen vehicle linked to a carjacking in the Capitol Complex Improvement District of Jackson. The chase, which began in Byram, concluded near the 2300 block of Terry Road in Jackson, where Beasley was taken into custody by Capitol police.
