Anthony Fox’s attorney discusses court’s decision to reverse conviction
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Court of Appeals has overturned the conviction of Anthony Fox in the 2019 death of George Robinson, citing insufficient credible evidence and trial errors. Fox had been sentenced to five years in prison for culpable negligence manslaughter but will now be released. Medical opinions also stated that Robinson was not injured in the way Mississippi claimed he was, further supporting the reversal. Attorney Merrida Coxwell expressed confidence that the case would be reversed and rendered. Once the court issues the mandate, Fox will be released. The Clinton Police Department noted that this marks a pivotal moment for justice and that Fox will resume his duties as a narcotics detective.
