Another warm day before much colder air arrives!
SUMMARY: Weather update indicates an impact day with elevated ozone levels and air quality concerns, categorized as yellow to orange. A tropical wave is being monitored with a 60% chance of development over the next week. Significant weather is anticipated, particularly in the Caribbean and Central America, but no systems are predicted to enter the Gulf. A cold front is approaching, leading to warmer temperatures (around 86°F) before dropping significantly to the low 50s by Thursday morning. Northeast winds will increase post-front, prompting small craft advisories. Residents should limit outdoor activities due to air quality alerts until midnight.
Meteorologist Devon Lucie starts us off with a look at the tropics where there are now two areas we’re monitoring for possible development. He’ll show us where the systems are expected to track, how strong they could be, and if they’ll have any impact on us. Then he brings us home to our high resolution forecast tracking and timing the arrival of the coldest air of the fall season so far letting you know when the colder air is here and how cold you’ll be. Devon will finish with the seven day forecast with all our expected rain chances, high and low temperatures, and when the winds will be their strongest.

Report: LDH pulling back on vaccine push
SUMMARY: Anonymous employees from the Louisiana Health Department claim that leadership has instructed them not to promote COVID-19 and flu vaccines anymore. A report from NPR cites four employees who were told to cease social media posts, vaccine events, and press releases about vaccination encouragement due to a re-evaluation of messaging as the pandemic evolves. The health department did not confirm specifics but acknowledged the change in approach. Experts warn that this shift may lead to decreased vaccination rates during a time when Louisiana is experiencing high flu cases, potentially increasing illness and mortality rates. Vaccines remain available and free through various local channels.
Anonymous employees say the state health department is pulling back on telling people to get vaccinated. That’s according to a report published by NPR on Friday.
