1/23/25- The “freezer door” shuts after Saturday AM, then the warm up begins!
SUMMARY: This afternoon is warmer than yesterday, with temperatures ranging from the upper 30s to low 50s. Cold weather will persist overnight, dropping to the mid-20s by Friday morning. Light winds will prevent excessive wind chill, but frostbite risks remain. A warming trend is expected starting Sunday, with temperatures rising to the mid-50s and even reaching 60 by Tuesday. Rain is anticipated on Monday and possible again Wednesday, which is beneficial given the area’s drought conditions. Overall, while the weekend will be chilly, it marks the beginning of a more comfortable weather pattern moving into next week.

Amory still waiting to rebuild ball fields destroyed in tornado
SUMMARY: In Amory, residents have been eagerly awaiting the return of home games for the high school baseball and softball teams after their fields were destroyed by a 2023 tornado. Mayor Cory Glenn spoke with WTV’s Jake White, providing an update on the recovery process. The fields are on federally owned land, complicating the rebuilding effort. The city is working to transfer ownership to the school, with documentation now in the hands of state and federal agencies. While progress is being made, Mayor Glenn expects to have a definitive answer in a couple of months, which could allow rebuilding to begin.
