Fire officials investigating what caused Mount Vernon wildfire
SUMMARY: Fire officials are investigating the cause of a wildfire that burned over 100 acres in Mount Vernon, Northern Mobile County. The fire, which ignited around noon, is now contained, but wind and dry conditions are still posing risks. Alabama Forestry Commission and local firefighters, including Creola and Mount Vernon Police, worked to stop the spread. With high winds and low humidity, sporadic flare-ups continue to threaten the area. Officials urge the public to avoid outdoor burning and be cautious as dry weather could fuel more wildfires. Crews will monitor the area for several days.

What caused the wildfire along Andry Road and Highway 43 in Mount Vernon remains under investigation.
