Man to be Sentenced in 1980 Murder Kidnapping | Oct. 25, 2024 | News 19 at 4 p.m.
SUMMARY: Limestone County is addressing a decades-old murder and kidnapping case involving Carol Lee Shoot, who has already been sentenced to life in prison in Texas for another murder. He pleaded guilty to a 1987 case, but his sentencing for the 1980 crimes was delayed as he did not appear in court. Shoot and his wife, Jackie, are accused of a multi-state plot involving murder and baby theft, including the fatal shooting of Jackie’s mother. Court attendees, including the victim’s sister, emphasize the emotional impact of the crimes on their family. The defense argues for time served in Texas to count towards the Alabama sentence.
A hearing today in Limestone County was aimed at finally settling a murder and kidnapping case dating back to 1980.
