Advancing STEM Education: PRCC Students earn stipend awards from Mississippi Space Grant Consortium
SUMMARY: Five Pearl River Community College students have been awarded the Mississippi Space Grant Consortium STEM Student Stipend Award for 2024, receiving $750 each. The recipients were selected based on their involvement in the STEM Club, coursework, service to the school and community, and recommendations by instructors. The students, Noah Bowman, Brennin Carlisle, Mason Holladay, Destiny Taylor, and Sydney Thornton, expressed gratitude for the award and shared their educational and career goals. MGCCC Phi Theta Kappa chapters earn top honors at 2025 Regional Awards Gala
SUMMARY: Three Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapters earned awards at the 2025 PTK Mississippi/Louisiana Regional Awards Gala. The Gamma Nu Chapter received multiple honors, including 1st Place for Honors in Action Theme Two and Most Improved Chapter. The Pi Epsilon Chapter secured a $1,000 Mellon Foundation Grant and elected the 2025 MS/LA Southern Regional Representative. The Omicron Alpha Chapter ranked 2nd regionally, earned multiple top project placements, and achieved Five-Star Chapter Status. MGCCC’s PTK chapters were recognized for their leadership, academic excellence, and service contributions, demonstrating a strong commitment to student achievement.

MGCCC students earn top honors at 2025 Mississippi Community College Art Instructors Association competition
SUMMARY: Two students from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus, Emma King and Ciara Ano, excelled in the 2025 Mississippi Community College Art Instructors Association Annual State Art Competition. King won first place in Digital Art for her piece featuring her deceased dog, Checkers, while Ano secured third in Drawing for her pastel still life. King highlights the significance of perseverance in art, encouraging others to push through challenges. HII Hosts US Marine Corps Officers at Ingalls Shipbuilding
SUMMARY: On April 2, 2025, HII hosted U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Eric Austin and other officials at its Ingalls Shipbuilding division in Pascagoula, Miss. The group toured the shipyard, including two amphibious warships under construction, Bougainville (LHA 8) and Harrisburg (LPD 30). Ingalls Shipbuilding President Brian Blanchette highlighted the shipbuilders’ pride in supporting the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Austin praised their contributions to national defense.
