Absentee voting begins in Mississippi ahead of Nov. 5 election

SUMMARY: Mississippi’s circuit clerk’s offices are now accepting in-person and mail-in absentee ballots for the Nov. 5 general election. can visit the secretary of ‘s website for information, FAQs, and guidance on absentee . In-person absentee voting is available on Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, with the last day to vote absentee in person on Nov. 2. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Election Day. Voters need to be registered by Oct. 7 to participate. For questions, they can email or call designated election contacts.

Officials celebrate more than $110,000 in grants awarded to Mississippi schools

Beloved Mississippi bluesman Sam Mosley dies at 78

Sam Mosley, a celebrated Mississippi blues musician, passed away on September 20 at the age of 78 in New Albany. Born in Union County in 1946, he gained fame as part of the duo Sam and Bob & The Soulmen, releasing albums Mississippi Mud (1971) and Premium (1989). After the of his partner, Bob Johnson, in 1998, Mosley continued to perform and honor Johnson’s with royalties. Known for hits like โ€œNever Let You Go,โ€ he left a significant legacy in blues music and worked in materials management for 34 years. Funeral arrangements are pending.
