A New Year’s Resolution – Pay Attention to Nature Around You
SUMMARY: Start the new year with a simple resolution: spend one minute each day appreciating nature. Amid our busy lives, taking just 60 seconds can reveal the beauty around us, like a leaf falling or birds singing. To make this a habit, choose a consistent time daily—perhaps while sipping your morning coffee. This brief pause can set a positive mood or provide calm during a hectic day. Ultimately, becoming aware of nature fosters a deeper connection and understanding of our environment, encouraging better stewardship. Embrace these moments to appreciate the natural world that we often overlook.

What’s with the Baby in King Cakes?
SUMMARY: King Cakes are a traditional Mardi Gras dessert with various flavors, known for their sweet icing and colorful frosting. A plastic baby is often hidden inside, symbolizing either Baby Jesus or the king/queen of a Mardi Gras ball, with the person who finds it taking on hosting duties for the next year. King Cakes are enjoyed from Epiphany to Fat Tuesday, with different names, shapes, and fillings. Their colorful glaze (gold, green, purple) and circular shape represent a king’s crown. Many bakeries, like Crazy B’s in Pascagoula, offer these treats during the Mardi Gras season, making them a popular festive snack.
