A museum now has a collection of Sam Lumpkin’s time in office

SUMMARY: Brandon Presley, fresh off the campaign trail for the Governor’s mansion, is preserving the legacy of former north Mississippi lawmaker Sam Lumpkin. Lumpkin served as Speaker of the house and Lieutenant governor and held powerful offices in the state of Mississippi in the 1940s and 50s. Presley has donated Lumpkin’s papers and audio tapes to a museum in Tupelo to ensure they are preserved. He believes that it will give context to characters from Tupelo’s history who may have been forgotten. Presley, who has been around politics most of his adult life, sees a need for other political figures to be remembered and believes that Tupelo is an appropriate place for Lumpkin’s documents.
