A Mississippi judge removes 1 of Brett Favre’s lawyers in a civil case over misspent welfare money
SUMMARY: A Mississippi judge has removed attorney Daniel Koevary from representing retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre in a state lawsuit seeking to recover misused welfare funds. Favre is still represented by other lawyers in the case initiated by the Mississippi Department of Human Services in 2022. Koevary violated civil court procedures by demanding unrelated hearings, deemed an attempt to create discord. Favre allegedly received $1.1 million in speaking fees from welfare funds meant for a volleyball arena at his alma mater. He repaid $1.1 million but still owes $729,790 due to interest. Former state director John Davis and others pleaded guilty to misusing funds.
