A front combined with what will become Hurricane Helene will bring rain and gusty winds to Alabama
SUMMARY: Hurricane Helene is currently in the Gulf of Mexico with winds at 35 mph, displaying limited organization. It is expected to strengthen into a Category 3 hurricane after moving through the Yucatan Channel, likely making landfall along Florida’s Big Bend area with winds reaching up to 115 mph. The forecast indicates possible impacts from Panama City to Tampa Bay, affecting areas like Valdosta and Thomasville before continuing northward. In Alabama, the arrival of a front on Wednesday will bring showers and storms, with gusty winds up to 35 mph on Thursday, before the rain subsides on Friday.
The National Hurricane Center has initiated advisories on Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine. The system will rapdily grow and strengthen over the warm Gulf, and it could become a strong Category Two or Three hurricane. The next name on the list is Helene.

ALEA Identifies Man Killed in Muscle Shoals Officer-Involved Shooting | Sept. 24, 2024 | News 19 at
SUMMARY: Authorities report that 68-year-old Ronald Parish was shot by Muscle Shoals police after he refused to drop a knife and charged at them. Despite repeated warnings to surrender the weapon, Parish lunged at the officers, leading to the fatal shooting. He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Witness in Jackson Lewis trial testifies about the day that Adrianna Taylor overdosed
SUMMARY: In a Mobile County trial regarding a fatal fentanyl overdose, 19-year-old Jackson Lewis faces manslaughter charges for the 2022 death of 15-year-old Adriana Taylor. Testimony revealed that Lewis, then 17, allegedly provided drugs, including crushed Xanax, laced with fentanyl, to Taylor and another witness at his grandmother’s house. The witness recounted that both Lewis and Taylor passed out after using drugs, but only Lewis regained consciousness while Taylor did not. The witness attempted CPR, and Lewis’s grandmother eventually called for help. A deputy found Taylor partially hidden under a bed, with toxicology results showing high levels of fentanyl in her system.

Robertsdale High School's JROTC leader is a Golden Apple winner
