A distressed hiker's 911 call leads to a homicide investigation, deputies say
SUMMARY: In Tennessee, deputies are searching for 45-year-old Nicholas Hamlett, wanted for first-degree murder and linked to South Carolina. Hamlett initially claimed to be Brandon Andrade when he called a dispatcher, stating he had fallen after fleeing from a bear. Responding officers discovered a dead man in the area of the call but found that an ID with Andrade’s name did not belong to the deceased. The identity of the dead man remains unknown, and an arrest warrant for Hamlett has been issued as authorities believe he fled before his true identity was revealed.
Monroe County, Tennessee, deputies said a man wanted for first-degree murder has ties to South Carolina and several other states.
