SUMMARY: “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” a 1983 comedy starring Chevy Chase, features a brief portrayal of St. Louis during the Griswold family’s road trip to Wally World. Key scenes illustrate their journey, including crossing state lines into Missouri and encountering the Gateway Arch, but very little was filmed in St. Louis. Most interior and nighttime sequences, including a memorable scene in East St. Louis, were shot elsewhere. A cut version originally labeled “East St. Louis” but aimed to depict an eastern area of St. Louis, Missouri. Director Harold Ramis later expressed regret for how the scene affected perceptions of East St. Louis.

SUMMARY: Experts are examining the recent deadly crash at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Current and retired pilots express sympathy for the victims’ families and suggest that human errors may have contributed to the tragedy.
