This bill, supported by State Senator Jeff Yarbro, also seeks to elevate unlawful photography from a misdemeanor to a felony in severe cases. Activist Erika Thomas hopes the legislation will aid future victims in seeking justice.

Operating seven days a week, the teams follow up for ongoing support, demonstrating a commitment to the community’s well-being. Due to its success in enhancing safety and crisis intervention, the program is expanding from four to six teams, receiving over $800,000 in funding.

Knoxville Police and the McNabb Center have partnered since 2020, responding to over 4,000 behavioral health calls.
