Kentucky housing sales a mixed bag in December | Kentucky
SUMMARY: Kentucky’s housing market saw a slowdown in December, with new listings declining by 3.5% year-over-year to 2,973 homes, and a significant drop of over 40% from November. Properties took longer to sell, averaging 20 days, three days longer than the previous year. Sales also dipped slightly, totaling 3,270, down 0.5% from December 2023. However, the median home price rose 8.8% to $265,000. The housing market faces challenges, including fewer first-time buyers and rising interest rates, with the average mortgage rate reaching 7.04%. These factors indicate ongoing inventory shortages and pressures on potential new homeowners.
