Three major blazes erupted, blanketing the city in smoke and ash, with over 1,000 structures lost and thousands forced to evacuate, including many in affluent neighborhoods. Firefighters, aided by out-of-state personnel, battled intense flames fueled by hurricane-force winds. The fires have burned about 22 square miles, marking the most destructive incident in LA’s history. As conditions worsened, California officials urged residents to conserve water and prepared for potential utility shutoffs. The bill targets public entities, including colleges and local governments, from granting money for legal representation related to immigration proceedings. This initiative arises amid rising legal defense funds against deportation, supported by organizations like the Vera Institute of Justice. The bill exempts indigent defendants and aims to curb millions spent annually by Texas cities like Houston, Austin, and San Antonio on legal assistance for undocumented immigrants facing deportation.

Snow begins falling in DFW Metroplex

Published

on

www.youtube.com – FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth – 2025-01-09 08:22:27

SUMMARY: School districts in the area are canceling classes due to heavy snowfall. Many decided on closures yesterday, including the largest districts, Dallas and Fort Worth ISD. A reporter in Collin County noted significant snowfall, prompting him and a photographer to build a snowman. Despite school closures, roads remain busy as parents head to work, though conditions are becoming slick. The area has prepared with salt and brine mixtures on roadways, but caution is still advised, especially on overpasses and bridges, as more snow continues to fall. Communication among districts has been vital for coordinating closures.

We’re now getting lots of reports of sleet and some snow across the DFW Metroplex. FOX 4 reporter Payton May is in McKinney where enough snow has fallen to make a (very) tiny snowman.
