Man behind New Year’s attack visited New Orleans before, recorded video with smart glasses
SUMMARY:
The FBI released video footage revealing the actions of terrorist suspect Shamsud-Din Jabbar before a deadly New Orleans attack. The clips show Jabbar visiting the French Quarter months prior, filming the area with his Meta glasses. Forensic expert David Thomas suggests Jabbar meticulously planned the attack, scouting points of entry and exits. On January 1st, Jabbar was seen placing two failed homemade bombs on Bourbon Street, using incorrect materials and lacking proper detonators. A long brown coat found at the scene matched one worn by Jabbar in the videos, highlighting his involvement in the deadly attack.
The man responsible for the truck attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day that killed 14 people visited the city twice before and recorded video of the French Quarter with Meta smart glasses, an FBI official said Sunday.
