Mild end to 2024
SUMMARY: Foggy conditions were observed in Chalmette today, limiting visibility towards New Orleans. The morning fog is expected to persist but will not result in a dense fog advisory. Mild weather continues with temperatures in the low to mid-60s and highs over 70°F anticipated this afternoon, similar to yesterday. Tonight’s New Year’s Eve weather will be clear and dry, suitable for fireworks. A cold front will push through overnight, dropping temperatures significantly by tomorrow morning, with highs cooler than current temperatures. A chance of rain is likely Thursday evening, with colder air moving in mid-next week.
We’ll see partly cloudy skies with highs in the low to mid 70s. A big temperature change happens Wednesday as highs only reach the low 60s.

Quit asking New Orleans to be resilient. We just want accountability. • Louisiana Illuminator
SUMMARY: The recent early morning terror attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, where 14 people died and 37 were injured, has left residents feeling a profound sense of numbness and frustration. Despite the city’s history of tragedy, this incident stands out due to negligence from officials who had removed protective barriers, leaving the area vulnerable. Local leaders’ responses, including controversial comments and dismissive attitudes towards public safety, have only intensified feelings of disheartening disgust among citizens. As a longtime resident, the author questions the sustainability of resilience in the face of recurring violence and urges leaders to respond with seriousness.

Weather Impact Alert New Orleans: Severe weather for Sunday, storms and possible isolated tornadoes
SUMMARY: A weather impact alert has been issued for Sunday due to a dynamic forecast. Overnight temperatures will rise into the upper 50s, transitioning to a humid pattern. A line of storms, with strong winds and an isolated tornado threat, is expected to move through late Sunday. Temperatures will drop significantly after the front passes, reaching the upper 20s and 30s by Monday and Tuesday, prompting concerns for freezing pipes on the North Shore. Residents are advised to protect people, pets, plants, and pipes. The cold weather will continue, lingering into the following weekend with possible precipitation.
