New Orleans attacker had suspected bomb materials at home, reserved truck weeks ago, officials say
SUMMARY:
Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who killed 14 people and injured 30 by ramming a pickup truck into New Year’s revelers in New Orleans, had bomb-making materials at his Houston home and planned the attack for over six weeks. The FBI found hazardous materials and bomb-making equipment, as well as clues suggesting Jabbar’s attack was premeditated. Jabbar, a former Army soldier with links to ISIS, died in a shootout with police after firing at officers. Investigators also discovered crude bombs planted in the area. The incident is the deadliest IS-inspired attack in the U.S. in years, prompting heightened security in New Orleans.

Cold blast expected to hit metro Atlanta | FOX 5 News

Jimmy Carter: Final respects to be paid in Atlanta, Washington, Plains | Georgia
SUMMARY:
Jimmy Carter, who passed away at 100, will be laid to rest in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. Before the funeral, his family will visit his boyhood home and ring the farm bell 39 times to honor his presidency. The house is now part of the National Park Service. His life is commemorated with a museum in his old high school and his former campaign headquarters in Plains. After a moment of silence in Atlanta, Carter will lie in repose at the Carter Center before being transported to Washington for a state funeral. A private service and interment will follow in Plains.
