DOJ: Former Capitol Police officer indicted in federal court for excessive force
SUMMARY: Jeffery Walker, a former Mississippi State Capitol Police officer, has been charged with felony excessive force against a handcuffed arrestee, identified as “E.S.” On July 27, 2022, Walker chased E.S. during a traffic stop, leading to a crash. After E.S. was handcuffed by another officer, Walker allegedly slammed his head into a car, forced him to the ground, and kicked him, causing injuries. Walker pleaded not guilty to depriving E.S. of civil rights. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. The case is being investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by federal attorneys.
