Monkey on the lam captured in San Antonio neighborhood; owners cited by Animal Care Services
SUMMARY: A monkey in a diaper was spotted roaming a Southside San Antonio neighborhood after escaping its owner. Animal Care Services (ACS) captured the monkey, which raised concerns among residents about both public safety and the animal’s well-being. Neighbors expressed sadness over the situation, noting it is illegal to own such animals in the area and worrying about the monkey’s living conditions. The owners, who are from outside San Antonio, received five citations, and a municipal court will determine fines. The incident highlights community uncertainty in handling wild animals in urban settings.

Instead of reindeer up on the housetops in a neighborhood on the far South Side of San Antonio, a monkey caused a commotion.

DOJ to investigate egg prices | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating soaring egg prices, which have risen from under $4 to over $7 due to an ongoing egg shortage linked to bird flu affecting American farmers since 2022. The investigation focuses on potential antitrust violations by major producers colluding on supply and pricing. As of January 2024, farmers have lost 70 million birds, impacting supply and demand. High prices have affected businesses like Rockos, which charges an additional $1.50 for egg dishes. To alleviate shortages, the U.S. is considering importing eggs from Turkey, but experts suggest a need for 1 billion eggs to make a significant impact.

The Justice Department is now investigating the rise in egg prices and whether major producers are violating anti-trust laws. FOX Business’ Madison Alworth reports.
