SUMMARY: The Student Veterans of America chapter at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is helping homeless veterans this holiday season through the Backpack Buddies initiative. Led by LeeQunita Brazzle, daughter of a veteran, the program collects essential supplies like blankets, hats, gloves, and hygiene products for backpacks. These backpacks, donated by Army National Guard recruiter SSG Anthony Santos, are filled with items and personal notes of encouragement. On December 12, the backpacks were delivered to the Biloxi VA for distribution. The initiative underscores MGCCC’s ongoing commitment to supporting veterans, regardless of their student status.
