UnitedHealthcare CEO murder suspect intends to plead not guilty: lawyer
SUMMARY: Luigi Mangione, 26, denied bail for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, contests extradition from Pennsylvania to New York, where he faces a second-degree murder charge. Pennsylvania has 30 days to secure a governor’s warrant for his transfer. Mangione is also charged in Pennsylvania with forgery and firearm offenses, pleading not guilty. His lawyer argued that nobody should prejudge the case without evidence tying Mangione to the shooting. Thompson, 50, was shot en route to an investor meeting, and the incident is believed to be targeted. He had previously faced legal issues related to insider trading and a DOJ investigation.
