thecurrentla.com – Camden Doherty – 2024-12-11 16:59:00

SUMMARY: Lafayette’s sewer capacity has long hindered residential development, but planned upgrades by LUS, including a new pump station, could accommodate 2,000 more units. SUMMARY: Louisiana has the third-highest auto insurance rates in the U.S., partly due to staged wrecks, fake injuries, and frivolous claims. Recently, federal authorities indicted two lawyers and a businessman for their involvement in a scheme to stage accidents in New Orleans. Truck drivers, like Donald from Texas, are supportive of the crackdown, with many using dash cameras to protect themselves. Over 50 people have been charged since 2020 for filing false claims. Lawmakers hope this investigation will help reduce litigation and lower insurance rates in Louisiana. The indicted individuals are scheduled for initial appearances soon.
