UPDATE: Boy, cabin still missing after boat’s discovery: Mobile County Sheriff
SUMMARY: Crews continue searching for seven-year-old Hunter Slac, who went missing after a boat sank off Dolphin Island. A shrimp boat named Maryan was found a mile offshore, but the vessel’s cabin is missing, complicating the search. Hunter was last seen Friday while shrimping with his father, Michael Slac, and family friend, Sam Wooly, whose bodies were discovered Saturday. Mobile County Sheriff Paul Bur detailed challenges with sonar equipment, prompting crews to resort to traditional grappling hooks. Despite the ongoing search, inclement weather may hinder upcoming efforts. The search has reached its fifth day without finding Hunter.
Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch gave an interview to local media Wednesday afternoon regarding the discovery of a missing boat.

‘We have to help’ Bon Secour church continues tradition of free food for their community
SUMMARY: Since 1931, Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church has been a vital part of the Bon Secour community. In recent years, it has made a significant impact through its weekly food distribution. Every Wednesday, volunteers, led by Carol Dean, prepare and distribute boxes of food to around 120 families. The church’s pantry provides a week’s worth of food, including canned goods, meat, and fruit. Pastor Norman Brown emphasizes the responsibility to help those in need, with some recipients, like Margot Reuse, transitioning from receiving to giving back. This ongoing effort ensures families have one less worry, especially during the holiday season.
This time of year, there is a lot of giving and goodwill but Morgan’s Chapel UMC in Bon Secour does it year-round by providing a basic necessity.

Two proposed neighborhoods with 99 lots were denied, as was a request from developers of the South Wind subdivision. Rubenstein maintains a focus on preserving single-family homes in the area, stating that developers can return with revised plans to meet current zoning requirements.
