Rays say in letter that stadium deal is still in effect | Florida
SUMMARY: The Tampa Bay Rays’ ownership confirmed that a $1.3 billion deal to build a new stadium in St. Petersburg is still active, awaiting decisions from local officials on bonds to help fund the project. In a letter to the Pinellas County Commission, the team emphasized their commitment to the agreement, blaming the commission for not upholding the deal made in July. The Rays criticized delays and said the project could not meet a 2028 completion if the bonds were not approved. The commission will vote on the bonds on Dec. 17, and the City Council will discuss them in January.

What is the cost of the 2024 Hurricane Season?
SUMMARY: Thanksgiving and Black Friday mark the end of hurricane season, which concluded on November 30th. Tampa Bay experienced significant damage, with ongoing rebuilding efforts following storms like Hurricane Helen, which caused nearly $1.9 billion in losses. Homeowners express relief that the season is over but worry about rising insurance rates. While the Florida property insurance market managed relatively well, claims from this season could lead to increased rates next year, especially for those who filed claims. The impact of this year’s storms, primarily flood-related, may result in adjustments in flood insurance costs as the market stabilizes.
New state data from the Office of Insurance Regulation shows the cost of these storms: Hurricane Debby, Hurricane Helene, and Hurricane Milton.
