SUMMARY: A hearing is scheduled today regarding a restraining order affecting the city of Lipscomb, where state officials froze the city’s assets due to an illegal gambling lawsuit. The Alabama Attorney General’s office claims that Lipscomb is liable for licensing J’s Charity Bingo, an illegal gambling operation. This temporary restraining order, filed on November 20, also impacts J’s Charity and its owners. The facility previously faced legal issues, having reopened after being shut down in August for operating with stolen illegal machines.
